Topic:
All in versus tailored anaesthetic management in thoracic surgery: rethinking the costs and invasiveness
Short biography:
My professional activities span four areas: clinical work, research, teaching, and management. For clinical work, I am currently employed as a consultant anaesthesiologist at University Medical Centre Maribor. My main areas of clinical interest are: Cardiothoracic surgery, Abdominal surgery, and Paediatrics. Pursuing the passion for exploration of a specific problem resulted in my involvement in a broad range of research topics: airway management and mechanical ventilation; haemodynamics; cancer surgery outcome modification; neuraxial anaesthetic techniques; acute pain management; equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging; pharmacology; research quality; and medical education. Concerning teaching, I have been heavily involved in medical education innovation since 2008. During this time, I have coordinated implementation of several projects, such as peer teaching, simulation, improved assessment formats etc. Currently I am coordinating the continuous professional development sessions for trainees at my hospital department. I am also the current president of the Slovenian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Medicine.
